Hong Kong parliament erupts into chaos as fight breaks out

Hong Kong’s parliament was plunged into chaos on Wednesday as a fight erupted between security staff and pro-democracy campaigners.
Yau Wai-ching and Sixtus Leung of the Youngspiration party had previously been barred from entering the building for insulting China.

The pair attempted to take the floor in defiance of a court order by the council’s president, banning them from taking part in proceedings in the house until a court settles a legal challenge on whether they should be allowed to retake their oaths.
Both individuals scuffled with security guards before other pro-democracy lawmakers came to their defence.
Speaking outside the chamber, Leung said: “It is not only democracy but they are destroying the whole system and some of our core values in Hong Kong – including separation of power, including ‘one country, two systems’, including anything.”
