Two men have been questioned over a chemical incident which led to the evacuation of London’s City Airport, the Met Police said.
The pair, aged 32 and 47, were interviewed under caution for possession of pepper spray on Wednesday, an offence contrary to the aviation security act 1982.
A 25-year-old man arrested last Saturday on suspicion of “using a noxious substance to cause serious damage” has been eliminated from inquiries.
The alert, on Friday October 21, saw about 500 members of the public and airport staff evacuated from the terminal, with two casualties taken to hospital and 25 treated at the scene.
The closure of the airport led to travel chaos as all flights were suspended and incoming planes were diverted to other airports.
The incident is not being treated as terrorist-related, according to Scotland Yard.
